Chevrolet announced that it will show the next generation Aveo (designated as a 2011 model) at the Detroit autoshow in January. The lineup will include a hatchback and sedan. They will also have an Aveo RS as a concept. According to Autoblog the RS will be powered by a turbocharged EcoTec, maybe the same 1.4 unit that sits in the Cruze. In general, Chevy will promote the Aveo as a sporty alternative in the B-sgement.
Detroit Preview: Next-generation Chevrolet Aveo RS to appear at Cobo — Autoblog I know there are some people on this board who are waiting for a sporty Fiesta. If Chevy popped out a performance Aveo before the Fiesta ST (or whatever its gonna be) would you buy it instead? |

I'm not interested in a Aveo, simply because it's a Chevy...
Now if Honda came out with a Fit Si that could very interesting... Though, I've sworn off brands before and have either by tempted to buy one (Neon SRT4) or have actually bought one (Focus SVT) in the past. I suppose Chevy could sway my vote if the Aveo is as spectacular as everybody seems to think it will be. It would have to blow the Fiesta out of the water in terms of quality, features, styling, and performance in order to get me to buy one. I really don't see that happening....

I think the Aveo needs a "volt-esque" dance to go with it!
Gimme an "A", Gimme a "V"....

The Aveo is supposed to be completely redesigned, so who knows. It could be really good. GM has put out some really nice performance cars in the recent past, so it isn't out of the question that the Aveo RS could be really good.

Yeah but it will still be an Aveo and a Chevy so I don't want one. I would guess that if they do produce this that it will probably speed up the Fiesta ST.

I think a more likely scenario is that the Aveo RS just won't sell well, re-affirming Ford's decision not to introduce an ST model.

I'm snowed in today, so I tried to kill some time by sketching out the next Aveo. Based on the media reports and spy photos I have a very clear image in my head of what this car looks like, but I'm only so good at conveying that on paper. Anyway, here goes:
