You bring up a good point which I am painfully aware of, which is that ordering this early may reduce my negotiating power. My plan is to put off the final price negotiations as long as possible. But I'm ready to pay up to MSRP, since the MSRP isn't too bad.

My dilemma is that if demand turns out to be low I'm better off just waiting until cars hit the lots and negotiating a good deal. However if demand is high and most cars are spoken for before they hit the lots then I could be subject to long waiting lists and/or price gouging if I wait.

I'm choosing to avoid the waiting list scenario at the risk of paying a little more than I would otherwise.

I was wondering about this. I saw "speed control" on the Sport Appearance Package when building an SE and figured it was cruise control but I wasn't sure. I would have chosen that package anyway (alloy wheels alone seal the deal as I don't like the steelies, plus it adds LED running lights, and all for less than $300!!) but adding cruise control makes it a must, since I do use that feature rather often.

Also, the alloy wheels on the SE Sport Appearance Package are actually straight from the FoE Fiesta, as I discovered when reading a recent TopGear Polo vs. Fiesta test (pic is from Google search though):

My initial reaction to the SE alloys was a bit "meh", but they started growing on me and now that I know they're straight from the EU car (in Zetec trim I believe) I like them even more...

I hear you on the SE wheels. Orginally I wanted the 16" wheels and because, well, bigger is better.

But when I got to looking at them I decided the 15" wheels were better looking. And that was particularly nice because the 16" was the only reason I was going to go SES, so now I can just get an SE!

I like the design of the US 15" 8-spoke alloys better than any other US wheel. I'm still planning to go for the SES in '11, but believe me I will be investigating ways in which those 16x6.5" 7-spoke EU alloys could become part of my car. One huge and potentially prohibitive issue would be shipping alloys from EU to me. Can't imagine the cost of that plus the cost of the wheels themselves. In the unlikely event Ford will have them in their accessory catalog, that would solve a lot of questions as I see no reason the stock all season tires and TPMS wouldn't work on them. Ah, to dream.

I found a place in UK which ships the EU wheels. I'm thinking 15-spoke 16". They are about $160 USD/piece. I don't know about shipping though.

I really like the ones located 2nd from the bottom. They look just like FSVT ones.

Does anybody know the actual offset and bolt patterns? Would the US Focus wheels fit?

One other part I would buy from Euro is an armrest. Luckily they are available and they are only $120 or so.

Does anyone know if the HVAC buttons are removable? In particular the moving rings. I would like to have those painted silver.

Not sure of the offset, but Focus wheels fit with no problem. I test fit my SVT Focus wheels on the car, and Ford Racing used the EAP wheels on their black tuner show Fiesta. Also, the test mules all used Focus wheels for testing.

I think we have until May 3rd or something like that before we have to finalize the reservation with a dealer. We might have a better idea by then if the Fiesta is really going to be a good seller. If it looks like Ford is moving them fast, it will be hard to find any dealer offering any discounts. If that's the case, like you mentioned, I'll be happy that I reserved. I'm hoping Ford is smart and produces the Fiesta at roughly the same rate they are selling them. That will help fight depreciation and resale in the long run and the price I initially pay won't be as important

Do you have a link for the armrest source?
